Planning a ninja birthday party for boys? Let's get this training started! When Landon turned 6 he was deep in a ninja obsession and this ninja birthday party sprint was one of my absolute favorites. We turned our backyard into a ninja training dojo using gear we already owned, dressed everything up with matching printable station signs (included as a free printable below) so every corner had it's moment and of course included his custom ninja birthday banner, a 15 foot DIY balloon garland and a dessert table full of store bought wins that we put our own touches on to go with the ninja theme! If you are looking for creative ninja birthday party ideas for boys that you can recreate for your party, you are in the right place!
A small party of family and friends seems like our new norm now and my capacity to host big parties in that caliber has changed since the lockdown days. I practice what I preach and there is no wrong way to celebrate, so going all out for our cousins and besties is perfect for this stage in our life.

This ninja phase has come on fast and hard with Landon. Nope, he’s never set foot in ninja classes and I have no idea where the obsession came from, but after talking him out of a few other not-so-great themes when he said ninja, I grasped onto it and planned this last minute ninja birthday bash (because I am a terrible summer procrastinator). This theme was so fun, because the custom ninja banner Landon helped me design matched all the ninja decor I scrambled last minute for on Amazon (luckily).

After last years balloon garland fiasco with the shark birthday party (looking *nothing* like I wanted it to, and knowing a professional wasn’t in the backyard party budget) I spent a bit of time watching a few youtube videos to up my balloon garland game, and can I say, *toot toot* I love how this balloon garland turned out! It draped the custom banner exactly like I had envisioned and was the perfect backdrop for the dessert table/kids table combo.

Ninja Birthday Party Dessert Table | Store Bought Wins & Budget Tips
The last minute decision to buy most of the treats for the party table was such a solid gift to myself. If you've checkout out any of my other kids parties, you know I really do love to bake and decorating cakes is one of my favorite things to do, but I planned this party in 48 hours and am so glad I took that job off my plate. Literally. We jazzed up this store bought chocolate cake with a quick frosting eye mask and I gave it my best attempt to match the eyes from the napkins. Definitely not a professional, but luckily six year olds are easily impressed.

My final push to buy most of the baked goods was when I had an excuse to get bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes because they matched the theme *perfectly*. Hostess Budget Tip: No one said you had to use cake toppers for cupcakes. There are plenty of cute, budget friendly cupcake topper ideas. We dressed these up with a pack of ninja sword food picks from Amazon and they were a hit for a fraction of the price! The kids and I did bake the copycat smash sugar cookies, and omg, the buttery deliciousness was mouthwatering.
Ninja Training Birthday Party Activities & Obstacle Course
Believe it or not, the dessert spread was very last minute, my focus for this party was the ninja training activities for the kids! I don’t usually do activities because I spend more time corralling kids that just want to play into doing activities, and in true fashion, I had to bribe for a picture or two, and they were too busy running around like feral summer wolves than completing their ninja training. My kids did get tons of play in with the stations helping me set them up for photos before the party though, so still a win in my book!
Grandma and Grandpa sent Landon’s birthday gift a bit early so we could have it for the party, and the kids did LOVE this training course!
